The towers were built by the Malaysian oil and gas company, Petronas, as their headquarters. The towers were designed by Argentine architect Cesar Pelli and his firm, and they were built by the Japanese construction company, Hazama Corporation. The towers were designed to reflect Malaysia’s Islamic culture and were inspired by traditional Islamic patterns and shapes.

The Petronas Towers are 88 stories tall and reach a height of 451.9 meters (1,483 feet). The towers are connected by a skybridge on the 41st and 42nd floors, which is open to the public for a fee. The skybridge is 170 meters (558 feet) above ground level and provides visitors with breathtaking views of Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding areas.

The towers are lit up every evening from 7 pm to midnight, and the colors of the lights change regularly. The towers are particularly beautiful during the Malaysian Independence Day celebrations in August, when they are lit up in the colors of the Malaysian flag.

The Petronas Towers are surrounded by a beautiful park called KLCC Park, which is a popular spot for locals and tourists to relax and enjoy the scenery. The park features a jogging track, a playground, a wading pool, and a lake with a fountain. There are also many restaurants and cafes in the park, making it a great place to grab a bite to eat or a cup of coffee.

If you’re interested in shopping, the Petronas Towers are located near several large shopping centers. The most famous shopping center in the area is Suria KLCC, which is located at the base of the towers. Suria KLCC is a massive shopping center that features over 400 stores, including high-end fashion brands, restaurants, and a movie theater. Other nearby shopping centers include Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Starhill Gallery.

SHOP

The Petaling Street Market is known for its counterfeit goods and street food. Visitors can also head to the Suria KLCC shopping mall, which is located beneath the Petronas Twin Towers and offers a wide range of luxury brands and designer shops.  Highly recommended is Low Yat Building on Jalan Bintang for electronics.  It’s where I got my iPhone screen fixed here for much cheaper than I can at home.  I also bought an iPhone case and would have bought more things were it not for my lack of money.  Another shopping experience I loved was at one of the many large shopping malls around KL.  My favourite was Pavillion Shopping Mall where I got some bargains at the store Art Friend on brand name artist paints.

Visitors can also sample traditional Malaysian dishes at one of the city’s many restaurants, such as the famous Banana Leaf Restaurant, which serves delicious South Indian cuisine.
